Definitions#

• Personal Data – any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
• Processing – any operation or set of operations which is performed on Personal Data or on sets of Personal Data.
• Data subject – a natural person whose Personal Data is being Processed.
• Child – a natural person under 16 years of age.

Data Protection Principles#

We promise to follow the following data protection principles:

• Processing is lawful, fair, transparent. Our Processing activities have lawful grounds. We always consider your rights before Processing Personal Data. We will provide you information regarding Processing upon request.
• Processing is limited to the purpose. Our Processing activities fit the purpose for which Personal Data was gathered.
• Processing is done with minimal data. We only gather and Process the minimal amount of Personal Data required for any purpose.
• Processing is limited with a time period. We will not store your personal data for longer than needed.
• We will do our best to ensure the accuracy of data.

The Data Subject has the following rights:

1. Right to information – meaning you have to right to know whether your Personal Data is being processed; what data is gathered, from where it is obtained and why and by whom it is processed.
2. Right to access – meaning you have the right to access the data collected from/about you. This includes your right to request and obtain a copy of your Personal Data gathered.
3. Right to rectification – meaning you have the right to request rectification or erasure of your Personal Data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
4. Right to erasure – meaning in certain circumstances you can request for your Personal Data to be erased from our records.

6. Right to object to processing – meaning in certain cases you have the right to object to Processing of your Personal Data, for example in the case of direct marketing.

This right you can exercise whenever there is an outcome of the profiling that produces legal effects concerning or significantly affecting you.
8. Right to data portability – you have the right to obtain your Personal Data in a machine-readable format or if it is feasible, as a direct transfer from one Processor to another.
9. Right to lodge a complaint – in the event that we refuse your request under the Rights of Access, we will provide you with a reason as to why. If you are not satisfied with the way your request has been handled please contact us.
10. Right for the help of supervisory authority – meaning you have the right for the help of a supervisory authority and the right for other legal remedies such as claiming damages.
11. Right to withdraw consent – you have the right to withdraw any given consent for Processing of your Personal Data.

Data We Gather#

This is a static website with no user accounts, comment systems, contact forms, or e-commerce. Data collection is minimal.

Browser preferences (localStorage)
Your theme preference (light/dark mode) and color hue setting are stored in your browser’s localStorage. This data never leaves your device and contains no personally identifiable information.

Hosting provider (Netlify)
This site is hosted by Netlify. Netlify may collect server access logs which can include your IP address, browser type, and pages visited as part of normal hosting operations. Please review Netlify’s Privacy Policy for details on how they handle this data.

GitHub API (embedded repo cards)
Some posts include GitHub repository cards. When your browser renders these, a request is made to the GitHub API to fetch repository metadata. No personal data about you is sent in these requests.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.

Third-party links
This site contains affiliate and partner links. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites.

How We Use Your Personal Data#

We use your Personal Data in order to:

• improve our website in order to better serve you;

• ensure the security and safe operation of our websites and underlying business infrastructure; and

We do not sell your Personal Data. The only third party that may access data related to your visit is our hosting provider:

• Netlify – as our hosting provider, Netlify processes server access logs as described in their Privacy Policy.

We disclose your Personal Data to third parties or public officials only when we are legally obliged to do so.

How we secure your data#

We do our best to keep your Personal Data safe. We use anonymizing and pseudonymizing where suitable. We monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks.

We have what we believe are appropriate security controls in place to protect personal data. We do not, however, have any control over what happens between your device and the boundary of our information infrastructure. You should be aware of the many information security risks that exist and take appropriate steps to safeguard your own information. We accept no liability in respect of breaches that occur beyond our sphere of control.

Even though we try our best we cannot guarantee the security of information. However, we promise to notify suitable authorities of data breaches. We will also notify you if there is a threat to your rights or interests. We will do everything we reasonably can to prevent security breaches and to assist authorities should any breaches occur.

Children#

We do not intend to collect or knowingly collect information from children. We do not target children with our services.

Cookies and other technologies we use#

This site does not set tracking or advertising cookies.

Your browser’s localStorage is used solely to remember your theme preference (light/dark mode and color hue). This is a functional preference stored entirely on your device — it is not a cookie, is never transmitted to any server, and contains no personally identifiable information.

If you interact with third-party embedded content linked from this site, those third parties may set their own cookies subject to their own privacy policies.

You can clear localStorage at any time through your browser’s developer tools or settings. Doing so will reset your theme preferences but will not otherwise affect your experience on this site.
